Welcome to version 16.7 of Lords of Illic! This version has the promised content of a new design for Ilenia - one that my brother says is wasted on her because she looks like she could be the protagonist of a game. There is also the new shopkeeper Lucia, though there is still quite a bit I want to do with her. More or less exciting is the fact you no longer have to play the game with silence, as I have added a couple of background tracks. They are tracks I got from a humble bundle so I can only dream of an OST for now, but it means I set-up a much needed system to handle sound.

I also finally found a satisfactory solution for reading text for my lore entries in Illic. About a month ago I wrote a short story for each character, but my system of lists of strings was woefully inadequate for holding a story a couple of pages long. I feel like the new solution might in turn need some serious refinement but at least for the moment you can read a bit about the characters. Which is a reminder in itself that I have been meaning to rewrite the story of the game for a long time. Also add in more levels and so on. The list goes on.

A lot of the work I have done this weekend has been about rounding up a herd of singletons and putting them down. I look back at the past where I made an abundance of them and grimace. A big part of it is that I was never taught about how to form a good architecture. That is of course a whole topic in and of itself so I will stop myself from digressing into it. By removing singleton references and replacing them with more robust solutions hopefully I can hear more and more parts of my system click into place. I am hoping - no I won't say hoping - I have arrive into a new era of prosperity for Illic, one where I can actually spend time developing new features and not just repaying technical debt.
